Descriptive Text

Do you know what descriptive text is?

(Tahukah kalian tentang teks deskriptif?)

Descriptive Text is a text which says what a person or a thing is like.

(Teks deskriptif adalah teks yang menjabarkan seseorang atau benda)

Its purpose is to describe and reveal a particular person, place, or thing.

(Tujuannya adalah menjabarkan dan menunjukan bagian tertentu seseorang, tempat, atau benda)

Structure of descriptive text:

  • Identification (Identifikasi)
  • Description (Deskripsi / penjabaran)

Example of descriptive text:

Descriptive text use simple present tense.

Simple Present Tense

Simple present tense is used to describe habits, unchanging situations, general truths, and fixed arrangements.

(Simple present tense digunakan untuk menjabarkan kebiasaan, situasi yang tetap, sebuah kenyataan dan urutan yang tetap)

Formula of simple present tense:

  • Positive form : S + V1 (-s, -es, -ies)
  • Subject I, you, we, they just use V1
  • Subject He, She, It use -s, -es, -ies behind V1
  • Negative form: S + does / do + not + V1
  • Subject I, You, We, They use “do”.
  • Subject He, She, It use “does”.
  • Question form: Does / do + S + V1

Example of Simple Present Tense

Here below are examples of simple present tense:

First example:

Positive form: I work.Negative form: I do not work.Question form: Do I work?

Second example:

Positive form: He plays.

Negative form: He does not play.
