Chapter 8: What Are You Doing?

In this chapter we are going to learn :

Present Continuous

In this chapter actually we just learn about present continuous.

(Pada bab ini sebenarnya kita hanya akan mempelajari present continuous)

Present continuous is used to show something is happening at the moment speaker say.

(Present continuous digunakan untuk menunjukan sesuatu yang sedang terjadi ketika pembicara berbicara)

Formula of Present Continuous

The formula for present continuous:

Positive Form:S + Are / am / is + V1 + ingNegative Form:S + are / am / is + not + V1 + ingQuestion Form:Are / am / is + V1 + ing

When we use are / am / is?

(Kapan kita menggunakan are / am / is?)

If subject I we use am.

(Apabila subjeknya I, kita gunakan am)

If subject You, We, They then use are.

(Jika subjeknya You, We, They maka gunakan are)

If subject He, She, It use is.

(Jika subjeknya He, She, It gunakan is)

Examples of Present Continuous

Here below examples of present continuous:

Example 1:

Positive Form:

I am playing footbal now.

Negative Form:

I am not playing footbal now.

Question Form:

Am I playing footbal now?

Example 2:

Positive Form:

You are breaking the glass.

Negative Form:

You are not breaking the glass.

Question Form:

Are you breaking the glass?
