Chapter 1: Congratulations!
In this chapter we are going to learn :
(Di materi ini kita akan mempelajari : )
- To express hope and wishes to others.
- To congratulate others for their fortune and achievement.
Lets start! (mari mulai!)
Hope and wishes
Hope and wishes in Bahasa mean “harapan”
(Hope and wishes dalam Bahasa Indonesia berarti harapan)
Even have same meaning, the purpose can be different.
(Meski memiliki arti yang sama, tujuan penggunaan dapat berbeda.)
It is depend on the situation faced.
(Bergantung pada situasi yang dihadapi)
Differences between hope and wishes
Differences between hope and wishes depend on the situation faced.
(Perbedaan antara hope and wishes bergantung pada situasi yang dihadapi.)
We use hope when praying something that can be happened.
(Kita gunakan hope ketika berdoa untuk sesuatu yang mungkin terjadi)
Example:
- I hope you get a good scores.
- I hope you win the contest.
- I hope we can study together next time.
Meanwhile, we use wish when talking about something nearly impossible or impossible to happened.
(Sementara itu, kita gunakan wish ketika berbicara tentang sesuatu yang hampir atau memang mustahil untuk terjadi)
Usually something we regret in the past.
(Biasa tentang sesuatu yang kita sesali di masa lampau).
Example:
- I wish that I could fly. (Impossible for human to fly!)
- I wish that I am superman. (No one can become superman!)
- I wish that I studied hard before an exam.
Now, we know the differences between hope and wishes.
(Sekarang, kita tahu perbedaan antara hope dan wishes)
So be careful when choosing the word!
(Jadi hati-hati ketika memilih kata!)
Congratulate
Congratulate in Bahasa mean selamat.
(Congratulate dalam Bahasa Indonesia berarti selamat)
We use congratulate for someone that success on something.
(Kita gunakan congratulate untuk seseorang yang sukses dalam suatu hal)
Example:
- Congratulate for your winning Dina!
- Congratulate for your achievement Salsa!
- Congratulate for your graduation Jaka!
The word can be changed become congratulations.
(Kata itu dapat kita ubah menjadi congratulations)
Example:
- Congratulations for your winning Dina!
- Congratulations for your achievement Salsa!
- Congratulations for your graduation Jaka!
